Rhode Island Embezzlement Penalties
Embezzlement is punished based on the value of the money or property stolen. If the money/property stolen has a value of $100 or less, the crime is punishable by a maximum jail sentence of one year and a fine of up to $1,000. However, if the money/property stolen has a value of $100 or more, it is punishable by a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine of up to $50,000 (or up to three times the value of the money/property embezzled).
