FBI Bust Finds Over 1,000 Marijuana Plants in Providence

On August 13, two Providence men were charged in federal court after law enforcement discovered over 1,000 marijuana plants growing in two separate locations. Roughly $14,000 and a .22 caliber firearm were also discovered after 10 search warrants were issued.

Both men were released after appearing in court; one was charged with manufacturing more than 100 marijuana plants and conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, the other with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

An FBI informant reported that the latter offender was charging $3,200 per pound of marijuana and that people were in his employ to tend to the plants and process the harvested marijuana. The arrest warrant described hydroponic growing equipment, high-intensity grow lights, fans, and air filters.
